District 46’s Leadership Summit 2026 was a powerful reminder that the most impactful leaders don’t just speak well — they listen deeply.
Bringing together District leaders from across the region, the summit blended inspiration, practical skill-building, wellness, and storytelling, all grounded in the theme Leading by Listening. From keynote insights to interactive workshops and reflective moments, the day reinforced one clear message: leadership begins with presence.
Reconnecting to Purpose
The summit opened with a dynamic keynote by Radhi Spear, DTM, Immediate Past International President of Toastmasters. Her presentation, Lead with Purpose and Impact, challenged leaders to reconnect with why they serve and to lead with empathy, clarity, and intention.
“Leadership is not about doing more — it’s about leading with clarity, empathy, and purpose.”
— Radhi Spear, DTM
Drawing on her experience at every level of Toastmasters leadership, Radhi reminded attendees that true impact is created not through additional tasks, but through meaningful connection.
“When leaders reconnect to why they serve, their impact multiplies.”
Practical Tools for Powerful Communication
The learning continued with two interactive workshops that equipped leaders with immediately applicable skills.
Natsuyo N. Lipschutz, MS4 led The Art of Persuasive Speaking in Global Business, guiding participants through techniques to sharpen logical thinking, define their One BIG Message, and structure communication for clarity and influence across cultures. Through hands-on worksheets and group exercises, leaders practiced applying these concepts to real-world business and leadership scenarios.
“If your audience remembers only one thing, make sure it’s the right thing.”
— Natsuyo N. Lipschutz, MS4
She emphasized that persuasive leadership begins with simplicity and intention.
“Clarity is the foundation of persuasion — and simplicity is its greatest strength.”
Listening as a Leadership Superpower
In Listening Beyond Words: A Transformational Leadership Skill, Rosann Santos, PM5 reframed listening as an active, high-impact leadership practice. Participants were introduced to a simple yet powerful framework — Pause, Presence, Playback — to deepen trust, strengthen relationships, and gain insight in every conversation.
“Listening is not passive — it is one of the most powerful leadership actions you can take.”
— Rosann Santos, PM5
Leaders were reminded that presence creates trust — and trust fuels results.
“When leaders pause and become present, trust naturally follows.”
A Moment to Reset and Reflect
To help participants reset and refocus, Denis Licul, VC5, President of Global Yoga Voices, guided attendees through Yoga – Inner Listening. This brief but grounding session allowed leaders to slow down, reconnect inward, and return energized for the remainder of the summit.
“Before we listen to others, we must learn to listen to ourselves.”
— Denis Licul, VC5
Leadership Stories That Inspire
The Lightning Panel, My Leadership Spark, featured three past District leaders — Kim Ortiz, PM5, Evelyn Marrero, DTM, and Derrick Guanzon, LD4 — who shared defining moments from their leadership journeys. Their authentic reflections offered inspiration, wisdom, and practical insight.
“Leadership sparks are often lit in moments when we choose to listen instead of react.”
“Some of the most powerful leadership lessons come from moments of reflection, not recognition.”
A Collective Effort
The success of the Leadership Summit was made possible by the many District leaders who supported planning, setup, and cleanup. Special thanks go to Kim Sudderth and Louise Mercado for the beautiful hall decorations that created a warm, welcoming, and inspiring atmosphere.
Moving Forward
Leaders left the summit equipped with practical tools, renewed purpose, and a shared commitment to lead with greater presence, empathy, and impact — in their clubs, teams, and communities.
